Tis the season to start preparing for music festivals! Here's a list of things to remember for your future firefly music festival experience :) Number ONE: HYDRATION Walking/dancing around in the hot sun all day will definitely cause dehydration, so it's important to bring along something that can keep you "cool" throughout the day. I recommend a hydration pack, such as a Camelbak because it holds a great amount of water to ensure that you can vibe for a longer period of time until it's time to refuel at the fill-up station. Number TWO: CAMPING SUPPLIES -Toilet paper--yes, it sounds dumb, but so does air drying yourself in a porta-potty. *TP tends to run out quick, so pack yourself a little roll for the road* -Tent, nails to hold down tent, canopy, hammer -A cooler to keep food/drink -Chairs to chillax in -Tapestry to block the hot morning sun -SUNSCREEN -Portable radio -Jumper cables Number THREE: MONEY If you're like me, you can't live off of granola bars and chips for four days, so it would be a good option to pack along some extra cash for food inside the festival. The food you get ranges from about 3-15 dollars depending on what you get. (The watermelon and chicken caesar wraps are amazing) Number FOUR: A SMILE Yes, a smile and a good attitude is key for any upcoming experience, so definitely don't forget that. :) |

Hey guys! Warm weather has started to creep into our little towns, and you know what that means....festival season is right around the corner! I've never been so excited to utter those words.
Last February, I made the decision to purchase my first festival ticket. Weeks and months before making that decision, I had watched countless youtube videos of festivals, where men and women were featured having the time of their lives, so of course in result, I had the longing to be one of those girls who is transported into a new world where only positive vibes reign. I researched SO many festivals, but Firefly was one that caught my eye. It was a reasonable distance, and the previous year's lineups had been on point. When I was an incoming freshman at Virginia Tech, I casually mentioned to my friends that I really wanted to attend Firefly Music Festival someday. I was surprised when I got the response, "Wait, I've always wanted to go to that too!" Whooop, and there it was. I had people on board, sooooo we all eventually made a pact that Firefly 2015 was going to happen. I guess it didn't really hit me-or my bank account, until I clicked "purchase." Doubts did flood my mind as time was getting closer to the festival. I thought that maybe the experience wouldn't be worth the money and energy put in. Let me tell you......I was wrong. So so very wrong. I packed up my little Jeep Liberty and hit the road. As we made it into Dover, Delaware, it started to rain. Ugh. Here we go..rain to start off the weekend. My doubts grew stronger at this moment **because seasonal depression is a real thing.** I was thanking the good Lord above that my car had four-wheel drive because mud pits started to spread throughout the camping area. Right away, we began to unpack our belongings and set up camp. For some odd reason, my two friends and I forgot how to pitch a tent. (even though two of us were girl scouts our whole lives) We needed help, so we seeked our neighbors. Turns out, our neighbors on one side of us were Virginia Tech alums. What a small world. They were super nice in assisting us "newbies" with whatever we needed. That was probably the moment that I realized things were going to be amazing if I let them be. The whole experience generated so many memories. Like that one time I practically found my soulmate at Kygo's set because we both shared the love for his beautiful music. (Daniel, where you at?) Or when we all had to evacuate the festival grounds during Kid Cudi's set because of a severe storm. (I still believe we survived a tornado) My point is, this festival was sort of like a blank canvas. A blank canvas for you to create whatever you please. And, if you ever been to a festival, or if you plan on going, you'll find that most people know how to make their canvas beautiful. They are people who want to spread positive vibes and hang out to great music. How much better can you get? Oh, yeah...add awesome food to the mix. BOOM. best time ever. When you're signing up to go to a music festival like Firefly, you're not just signing up for rad music, but you're also signing up for an experience that you'll remember and cherish forever. It's not totally something I can explain fully, so you'll just have to go and find out for yourself :) |
