Alright, I promise I'm not trying to rush the upcoming fall/winter season at all. Trust me, I want spring and summer as much as the next girl, but I just thought this would be a perfect time to reflect on some of my favorite ready-to-wear fall/winter 2015 looks from Mercedes-Benz fashion week! It's sort of sad that the hustle and bustle of fashion week is over, but at the same time, it's so cool to see what the future of fashion holds. So, the first collection that stood out to me was Anna Sui's "Viking" inspired runway looks. She incorporated a lot of intricate pattern detailing, as well as adding furry textures to the mix to create a unique, warm, cozy look. I will definitely be mixing patterns and textures next fall. Jeremy Scott's collection is next up on the list. I love his "used doll-like" inspired outfits that he created. His brilliant use of bright colors and fun patterns have me traveling back in time to those nursery rhyme days. I believe his concept was impeccably demonstrated. Even though fall/winter is usually known to be an advocate for dark, bland colors, don't be afraid to use Jeremy's bright colors as inspiration for the upcoming seasons. A pop of color goes a looooong way. Another one of my absolute favorites of the week was Narciso Rodriguez's runway looks. His collection leaned more towards the minimalistic approach to style, but I guess that's why I liked it so much. The tailoring of each garment was exquisitely done, and it complimented the body well. What I like so much about his collection was that even though he used the basic colors of black and white, he still structured the articles of clothing to make the overall look have an interesting appeal, that made you want to know more about the designer. MICHAEL KORS. MICHAEL KORS. MICHAEL KORS. Did I mention Michael Kors? Well, this "Hollywood Glam" type collection has been a buzz ever since the fashion show debut a few days ago. The show was a little bit like watching a 1940s classic film. The glitzy dresses, tailored matching suits, and use of brown/grey shades made for a perfect cinematic touch. Oh, and I suppose the fur textures aren't going out of style anytime soon, so make sure to hold onto those fur vests/coats that you've acquired over the years! You can always rely on fur to up your outfit... ALWAYS. LAST but CERTAINLY NOT least, let's talk about Rag & Bone. The Rag & Bone's collection caught my eye because of the perfect statement coats that were presented. Everyone needs a statement coat for the cold weather seasons. It's what sets you apart from the rest of the crowd. It's what defines you and your style. It tells a story without the use of words, and that's a very powerful thing. I can tell you this much.....my closet will be overflowing with statement coats next fall/winter. (Most likely from a thrift shop though because I'm a broke college student..) Anyways, I hope I got you all a little bit excited for the months to come. My advice is to just have fun with fashion, and do what makes you truly happy. It makes life much more enjoyable. Also, don't be afraid to break away from the fashion norms! People will most likely admire you for it. I'll leave you with the wise words of Anna Wintour... "Fashion goes in only one direction---forward---and I am a firm believer in thinking that way too." Have a great rest of your weekend. xoxoxo -Brylizzle |
